March Madness, like the risks Oxford helps our clients insure against, can be unpredictable. In 2018, March Madness has had some of the biggest upsets in tournament history. What finally happened? A No. 16 seed beat a No. 1 seed in the biggest upset in the history of the NCAA tournament (which began in 1939). The University of Maryland, Baltimore County beat Virginia 74-54, busting brackets across the country and becoming the first No. 16 team ever to knock off a No. 1 seed. Texas A&M (7) upset a heavily favored North Carolina (2), and by over 20 points. Buffalo’s (13) win over Arizona (4) removed a consistent historical contender from the contest early on. What outcome April 2nd brings is anyone’s guess. How well will you do this Tourney in predicting outcomes based on a little over 9.2 quintillion possibilities?
