Theranos Test Results Could Throw Off Medical Desicions

Theranos, a lab-testing company that operates blood-drawing sites in Walgreen’s drugstores, was the subject of a study by researchers at the Icahn School of Medicine.  The study showed that results for cholesterol tests done by Theranos, Inc. differed enough from the two largest laboratory companies in the U.S. that it could throw off a doctors’ medical decisions and subsequent treatment plan.  The results of this study were published online in the peer-reviewed Journal of Clinical Investigation.  In a letter Theranos sent to JCI,  the study was labeled as “flawed and inaccurate”.
